Your liver is responsible to chemically produce VLDL. This product is made to carry energy-rich triacylglycerol in your body cells. They flow through the bloodstream to carry and deliver triglycerides, a type of fat.
Before you take the test, make sure you follow few important points. Avoid alcohol intake for 24 hours prior to the test.
Let your doctor know if:
- You are pregnant.
- You were previously diagnosed with a disorder.
- You are suffering from a long term disorder like diabetes, hypertension, etc.
- You are under a specific medication course.
In that case, your doctor will take special precautions in order to avoid any other health hazard. For example, a certain medicine must be avoided before the blood test as it hampers your test results. The hormonal factors of pregnant women are quite different as compared to others. Based on these facts and points, your doctor will know if your test results are normal or if there are any health threats to you.
If you are diagnosed with a cardiovascular disorder, there can be a possibility that your VLDL levels are high. According to the changes, a correct array of treatment measures will be carried out for such individuals. Treatment can be in the form of therapy, medicines and also surgery if need be. During an ongoing treatment and/or after complete intervention, patients are asked to take VLDL test along with the set of few others, like high sensitivity C-reactive protein, lipoprotein (a), plasma ceramides, natriuretic peptides etc., in order to know if everything is normal. Also, for such cases, VLDL test along with other lipid panel test, will be suggested more than once.
Patients are advised to keep a track of all the tests. Tests show whether there is an improvement in your health condition or not. You can continue or discontinue your treatment accordingly.
