How is HSG test performed?
- The patient is asked to lie on her back with knees bent and legs spread out.
- An iodine containing fluid is injected through the cervix and it fills the uterus and fallopian tubes.
- X-ray images are then taken to observe the uterine cavity, fallopian tubes, vagina and cervix.
Iodine dye acts as a contrast medium and highlights the organs of female reproductive system. X-ray images are studied in order to diagnose various health conditions of female reproductive tract.
HSG helps in diagnosing the following disorders:
