Indications for undergoing Anti CCP antibodies test are:

Procedure of Anti CCP antibodies test:
Anti CCP antibodies test is a blood test conducted in pathology labs. Lab technicians even visit patients at their home to collect blood sample. A venous blood sample taken from a vein in the arm is used to determine levels of anti CCP.
Blood samples are stored in containers filled with anti coagulants, to prevent blood from clotting. Advanced medical technology and highly calibrated equipment is used to determine levels of anti CCP antibodies in the sample.
Even in normal adults, presence of anti CCP antibodies up to a level of 20 units/ml is considered normal. Anything above 20 however, is suggestive of rheumatoid arthritis.
Along with Anti CCP antibodies test, patients may also require to undergo tests to determine levels of rheumatoid factor, HLA B27. Additionally, it may be wise to undergo X-ray of the affected joints.
